Holiday Fun with Heat Miser and Snow Miser

When I was a kid, I always looked forward this time of year to the animated holiday specials, especially the stop-motion ones with the stiffly-moving characters performing their little song and dance numbers like a mini Broadway musical. So, when I found two of my favorite characters from back then recently on YouTube, the adorable Heat Miser and Snow Miser stepbrothers, I just had to share them with all of you!

These two funny-looking, feuding sons of Mother Nature are from “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” a sort of sequel to “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” The YouTube clip shows the introductory numbers of these two guys when Santa’s elves and Mrs. Claus visit them in an effort to get them to cooperate in letting it snow in a part of the world that has never seen a white Christmas in exchange for letting the North Pole have a warm Christmas, all to save a little reindeer’s life. Last but not least, this version of the song was recorded by the great contemporary swing band originally from my neck of the woods, Los Angeles, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Ah, memories! Enjoy it!

THE MISER BROS. FROM “THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS”

SNOW MISER

I’m Mr. White Christmas; I’m Mr. Cool.
I’m Mr. Icicle; I’m Mr. Ten Below.
Friends call me Snow Miser.
Whatever I touch turns to snow in my clutch.
I’m too much!
(Oh, I’m too much, Baby!)

He’s Mr. White Christmas; he’s Mr. Snow.
He’s Mr. Icicle; he’s Mr. Ten Below.
Friends call me Snow Miser.
Whatever I touch turns to snow in my clutch.
I’m too much!

I never wanna know a day that’s over 40 degrees.
I’d rather have it 30, 20, then, 5;
Let it freeze!
(Woo! It’s cold in here, Baby!)
(Much too cold in here for you, now; come on!)

He’s Mr. White Christmas; he’s Mr. Snow.
He’s Mr. Icicle; he’s Mr. Ten Below.
Friends call me Snow Miser.
Whatever I touch turns to snow in my clutch.
I’m too much!
(Too much!)

HEAT MISER

I’m Mr. Green Christmas; I’m Mr. Sun.
I’m Mr. Heat Blister; I’m Mr. Hundred-and-one.
They call me Heat Miser.
Whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch.
I’m too much!

He’s Mr. Heat Miser; he’s Mr. Sun.
He’s Mr. Heat Blister; he’s Mr. Hundred-and-one.
They call me Heat Miser.
Whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch.
He’s too much!
(Thank you!)

I never want to know a day that’s under 60 degrees.
I’d rather have it 80, 90, one-hundred degrees!
Oh, some like it hot; but, I like it really hot!
(Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-ho-ho-ho-ha-ha-ha-ha!)

He’s Mr. Heat Miser; he’s Mr. Sun.
(Sing it!)
He’s Mr. Heat Blister; he’s Mr. Hundred-and-one.
They call me Heat Miser.
Whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch.
I’m too much!
(Too much!)

CONCLUSION

Isn’t it fun to remember when we were kids and holidays meant days off from school, great food, colored lights, shiny tinsel and garland, and, best of all, lots of exciting presents! Even though times might be getting tougher at the moment with our economy in a slump, all we really need to make our holidays truly magical is to show all the special people in our lives how much we love and appreciate them.

One fun and free way to do this is pick a few favorite holiday specials and watch them on TV with your family and friends. Here are some more popular favorites:

    1. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

    2. Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

    3. A Christmas Carol (1951)

    4. A Christmas Story (1983)

    5. Elf (2003)

Happy Holidays, Everybody! It’s time to get into the spirit. Halloween is just around the corner, then there’s Thanksgiving, soon after that Christmas, and, finally, New Year’s Eve! But, in case you haven’t guessed yet, my favorite is still Christmas! ; )
