7 Quick Tips for More Time and Less Stress
Who doesn’t need more time and less stress? I remember when I used to work in an office, I could always use a big, fat, heaping dose of both.
Now that I work from home—much as I love it—projects still need to get done by deadlines I now set for myself (tough boss!), so the stress can be even greater than before if I don’t remember to stop once in while to follow the time-saving, stress-reducing tips below.
These seven little pearls are surprisingly effective at keeping you on the safe side of the insanity fence—whether you work surrounded by colleagues in the office or quietly at home all by your delicious lonesome! : )
7 QUICK TIPS FOR MORE TIME AND LESS STRESS
1. Think the job through before acting. What are you trying to accomplish? What do you need to get the job done? Believe it or not, this one step can save you tons of wasted effort and time.
2. Tackle the toughest projects first. Waiting won’t make them easier.
3. Bundle similar tasks. Such as cleaning equipment and straightening your desk.
4. Don’t over-schedule yourself. Trying to squeeze in more tasks in less time usually has the opposite effect—inefficiency and greater stress.
5. Break up larger tasks into smaller, doable pieces. You’ll get an energizing feeling of accomplishment as you cross items off your list.
6. Minimize routine tasks. Such as opening the mail, checking email, and returning phone calls.
7. Set time limits. A deadline can help you reach your goal faster than if you leave a project open-ended.
CONCLUSION
Nos. 1 and 2 were the hardest for me. But, I’ve gotten so much better at all of them since I found these tips six years ago simply because I just keep trying.
